Step 1: Cleansing

Cleanse your face. Before you apply makeup, you'll want to wash it and remove any excess oil and dirt. Use a gentle cleanser and wash your face with warm water, then pat it dry with a towel.

If you're going to a party at night and have makeup on from the day, remove it with a makeup remover cloth or solution before washing your face.

Step 2: Moisturizer

Before you start applying your makeup, take the time to thoroughly prep your skin with a high-quality moisturizer. Choosing the right type of moisturizer is an important part of the puzzle.

 Step 3: Primer

Now that your skin is well-moisturized, prep your face with a primer. Primer is a crucial first step. Using a primer underneath your makeup will ensure your look lasts longer.

Step 4: Liquid Foundation

When it comes to foundation, finding the perfect shade for your skin is priority number one. The right shade of foundation can make all the difference. Test foundation shades against your jawline.

After application, if the foundation disappears without any blending, you have found your true match. This may involve a bit of trial and error, but taking the time to choose the right shade is essential.

Step 5: Concealer

There are two main categories of concealer: liquid and stick/compact.

Liquid concealer is best for when you want light coverage over large areas of your face. Liquid concealer also works well for creating a light finish, especially in areas with wrinkles, such as around the eyes and mouth.

Stick and compact concealers are well suited for heavier coverage on smaller, more specific areas of the face.

Step 6: Foundation Powder or Loose Powder

Applying foundation powder can be a tricky process; too little of a tool and you'll skip a step entirely, too much and you'll end up with the dreaded "cake look."

Step 7: Blush

Flushed cheeks have been a staple of makeup glamour for centuries. If you want to add a little more color and liven up your complexion, blush can be the key. Use a dense brush with lots of bristles to apply your blush—this will ensure you get the most out of every blush sweep.

Step 8: Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow can add interest to your makeup look, whether you choose neutral shades or go bold with colorful hues. Whichever look you choose to create, select two complementary eyeshadows: one lighter shade and one darker shade.

Dip your eyeshadow brush into the lighter shade, then tap off any excess product from the brush. Apply the light shadow across your entire eyelid, starting from the lash line and ending just above the crease of your eyelid.

Step 9: Eyeliner

Applying eyeliner can be tricky—one small mistake, and you’re stuck with "raccoon" eyes. Solve your eye makeup woes with these essential tips for applying eyeliner.

Step 10: Mascara

If you were to use only one makeup product, mascara should be at the very top of your list. A few swipes of mascara can make your eyes look instantly brighter in just a single step.

You can find mascara in a wide variety of colors, but black and brown remain the most popular choices. Begin by curling your eyelashes using an eyelash curler.

Step 11: Lipstick / Lip Gloss

Prep your lips before applying gloss. If your lips are dry or chapped, be sure to use a gentle lip scrub to remove any dead skin.

Next, apply a lip conditioner or moisturizer to further soften your lips. Once your lip balm has been absorbed, blot away any excess product.

Step 12: Setting spray and setting powder

Applying setting spray or powder can be the final touch to your makeup routine.

If you want makeup that lasts all day without greasy, creasing, or shine, investing in a quality setting solution is crucial.

Setting sprays are designed for all skin types and can be used for a variety of looks, whether you're rocking light coverage or sporting a full face of beautiful makeup.

Setting sprays keep your makeup in place, helping you reduce the need for reapplication and keeping your makeup looking flawless for hours at a time.

Steps for Properly Removing Your Makeup

We have already learned how to apply makeup; however, for most people who wear makeup daily—when you return home exhausted after a long day of work—you often feel a sense of lethargy.

It frequently happens that you do not bother to remove your makeup and simply go to sleep with it on.

This can lead to significant skin damage, such as breakouts, pimples, dark circles, and fine lines. If you desire beautiful and clear skin, properly removing your makeup is absolutely essential.

Here are some steps to help you do it the right way!

Steps for Properly Removing Your Makeup

Step 1: Tie Your Hair

Always tie back your hair before beginning your makeup removal routine. This way, you can focus on removing the makeup from your face and eyes without getting your hair wet.

Step 2: Use Eye Makeup Remover

Do not remove eye makeup with regular makeup remover, as it can irritate your eyes. Eyes are very delicate and require extra care. There are many eye makeup removers on the market, and you can choose one.

Use this product to remove eyeshadow, kajal, eyeliner, and mascara. Do not pull or tug at the makeup while removing it. Even if some of it comes off, let it be. Do not apply force.

Step 3: Steam Your Face

Steaming your face helps open pores and remove impurities. You can use a steamer for this. However, if you don't have the time, you can use a hot towel compress. Open pores facilitate the cleansing process, thereby aiding in the removal of makeup.

Step 4: Remove Lip Color

Apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline to your lips. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Take a round cotton pad, gently press it against your lips, and slide it across. This removes even the deepest lip colors.

Step 5: Use a Facial Makeup Remover

Wipe your entire face with a makeup remover. Avoid the eye area. Afterward, wash your face with a cleanser or face wash.

Step 6: Wash Your Face & Pat Dry

Take a face wash or cleanser and cleanse your entire face using circular upward motions. Also, be sure to remove any remaining eye makeup. Rinse your face thoroughly with warm water. Finally, splash cold water on your face to close your pores. Use a clean towel and gently pat your face dry.

Step 7: Time to Moisturize

Apply moisturizer and massage in until it is absorbed. Make sure you choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type and needs.
